Mozilla's Firefox Operating System For Smartphones And Tablets
Mozilla, known for making world's most famous(and off course mine too) Firefox web browser, is now in the field of making operating system for smartphones and tablets. Its being said that Firefox OS is much cheaper than Android OS. It will support rich content with HTML5 and access the hardware using JavaScript. For example, the OS might control a phone's camera for slow motion recording or quick, successive shots.
Firefox OS (project name: Boot to Gecko also known as B2G) is a Linux-based open source operating system for smartphones and tablet computers being developed by Mozilla. It is designed to allow HTML5 applications to communicate directly with the device's hardware using JavaScript. It has been demonstrated on Android-compatible smartphones and the Raspberry Pi.
The first smartphones running Firefox OS should be released in the first half of 2013 (expecting July 2013). It will first be released in South America, and will later come to Asian and European markets.
